The EHS Manager will lead and facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of EH&S management systems necessary to ensure the assigned facility’s objectives are met and are compliant with all corporate, federal, state, and local environmental, safety, and industrial health requirements. Serve as a resource to the Company to ensure Environmental, Safety and Industrial Health deployments are leveraged effectively and consistently on assigned projects and initiatives.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide consultation and services to plant leadership regarding environmental, health and safety programs, operations, and compliance.
  • Advise plant management and Director, Corporate EH&S on EH&S management system and compliance issues and opportunities.
  • Communicate goals and objectives, oversee, and promote the deployment of the plant level environmental and safety management systems and processes.
  • Work with other Company facilities and Corporate to design, implement, and audit best practices / processes for EH&S performance on projects as assigned.
  • Implement environmental, health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness of current programs; recommend improvements to policies and procedures. Research and create program recommendations for assigned areas of environmental, health and safety.
  • Develop and conduct new hire safety and environmental orientation(s) coordinating with other functional managers as appropriate.
  • Manage, maintain and submit required corporate and agency (Federal, State, and local) regulatory compliance required documents. This includes but is not limited to monthly metrics and permit requirements.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in budgeting for EH&S activities.
  • Effectively interact with agencies, including: plant inspections, permit and plan renewals, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate “root cause” incident investigations and reporting processes and recommend corrective action.
  • Direct, monitor, and perform safety and environmental self-inspections and audits.
  • Primary leadership resource for all Safety and Environmental related committees/teams throughout site or complex.
  • Coordinate and facilitate activities of the safety committee.
  • Conduct and / or facilitate EH&S annual and ongoing compliance training.
  • Schedule and participate in monitoring, sampling, and testing of permitted process and pollution control equipment for compliance.
  • Assist HR Manager with Workers Compensation claim submittal, return to modified work, case tracking or claims reviews.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety and EH&S rules and regulations.
  • Generate weekly reports to middle and upper management, make recommendations when needed to prevent accidents/incidents.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with other departments to review/discuss safety topics.
  • Other duties as assigned and necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health & Safety Technician (OHST) are preferred.
  • 3-5 years previous experience in the EH&S field.
  • Must have a preventive not reactive safety mentality.
  • Must be able to work different shifts when needed to provide support.
  • Experience in conducting accident investigation, investigate, review and provide feedback to Plant managers.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred. Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of EHS concepts and company policies, programs and procedures.
  • Effective leadership, organizational, and management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; bilingual preferred. (English and Spanish).
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, problem solving, and team building skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to handle multiple projects at a time
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft office software applications; intermediate to excellent Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail to ensure timely and accurate transactions and documentation.
