We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Clerk to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing processes, insurance claim submissions, and payment collections. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing of medical services, resolving billing discrepancies, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and government payers (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.).

• Review patient billing accounts for accuracy and completeness.

• Process payments, adjustments, denials, and refunds.

• Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve issues related to claim denials or rejections.

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to patient appointments or procedures.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance guidelines, billing codes (ICD-10, CPT), and payer requirements.

• Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans.

• Generate billing reports and assist with month-end closing processes.

• Work closely with providers, front office staff, and insurance companies to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; additional certification in medical billing or coding preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing in a healthcare setting.

• Proficient in medical terminology, billing software (e.g., Kareo, Athenahealth, or similar), and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and insurance claim procedures.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

This is a temp to hire position with a starting pay of $14 per hour.
