*POSITION SUMMARY*
Our Diesel Mechanics are responsible for maintaining the Company’s Truck Fleet in a safe and cost-efficient manner. As a member of the maintenance team Diesel Mechanics performs maintenance, repair, and inspection work on Sibley’s tractor units. Mechanics must comply with all applicable DOT, OSHA, and applicable safety regulations

*ESSENTIAL TASKS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES*
· Perform routine and preventative maintenance and tractor repair safely and efficiently.
· Diagnose, repair, or replace air conditioning units of trucks.
· Perform electrical work on trucks (i.e. micro motors, heater motors, etc.).· Perform clutch repairs.
· Complete motor overhauls (injector replacements).
· Perform tire balancing.
· Troubleshoot truck malfunctions.
· Enter data regarding repairs, time spent, and parts used on repairs in Fleet Maintenance Software.
· Maintain work area and cleanliness of the shop, ensuring safety and compliance.
· Maintain proficiency in equipment and technologies that enhance productivity.
· Abide by all safety protocols, including PPE, Lock Out/Tag Out, etc.
· Communicate with Foreman and Parts and Inventory Specialist regarding work performed, parts used, equipment needed, or emergent issues with any job.

*EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE*
*Education*:
· High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
· Associate degree or (two-year degree and/or Technical School preferred.)
*Experience*:
· A minimum of one year of mechanical experience on heavy trucks or heavy equipment is required or equivalent education combined with experience.
· Practical knowledge or training in truck transmission, AC, Electrical, and ABS braking systems repair.
· Prior experience Fleet Maintenance Software is desired.
· Must have own tools/toolbox with the basic requirement of tools for the work to be performed.
*Certifications & Licenses*:
· Maine State Inspection License preferred
*PHYSICAL ABILITIES*
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, and the ability to use hands or fingers to handle and reach. Requires dexterity sufficient to enter data and communicate electronically. Must be able to hear and speak to communicate sufficiently by telephone and in person, see sufficiently to examine documents, and view a computer monitor. The position also requires the ability to stand, walk, and frequently lift up to 75 lbs.
